"Our family has been established in Mittelbergheim since the 17th century, and since that time has worked in professions linked to the vine, from cooperage to viticulture.
At the beginning of the 1970s, Pierre and Doris Rietsch created the estate that bears their name by transforming their operation, which was then focused on mixed farming, into a purely wine-growing business.
The estate is today managed by Jean-Pierre Rietsch and his wife Sophie, assisted by Pierre-Etienne Grieshaber. The estate works in partnership with La Main Verte, an adapted company whose teams participate in manual work in the vines, from pruning to trellising. Although retired from operations, Pierre Rietsch remains present throughout the year and continues to contribute to various tasks."
It is in this family spirit that we welcome our visitors, when they come for a tasting and a discovery of our cellar, in which the tuns which have been in place for three generations are still in use.
In 2008, they chose environmentally friendly viticulture by converting their estate to organic farming. Grassing, surface tillage and sowing of green manures are the centerpieces of our cultivation management. They allow native flora and fauna to create a balanced environment and promote the expression of the terroir.
This cuvee is " With a beautiful light red color, resulting from the maceration of the stems and skins, this Pinot Gris cuvée offers a complex nose of Christmas spices and red fruits. The palate is round, delicious, with good substance and a slightly astringent finish."
