Mas Carlot is situated in Costières de Nîmes, a beautiful pebbly land around Nîmes and Arles in the Southern Rhône, and makes some of the very best value wines in the whole of France. This blend of 50% Roussanne, 40% Marsanne and 10% Viognier is outstanding.
An elegant white that offers up notes of peach marmalade, apricots, honeyed pears, and candle wax. With a good fresh acidity as well as abundant fruit and flavour, this attractive, medium-bodied wine overdelivers.
Pair this rich white well with shellfish, chicken, veal, pork and vegetables prepared with savoury butter, cream or mild cheese-based sauces.
Winemaker Cyril has always lived among the vineyards and orchards of his father, Roger Marès. After studying agronomy, viticulture, and oenology in Montpellier, he went to make wine on other continents before taking over the estate.
First in the USA at Chalone Vineyard in 1994, then in Chile with Bruno Prats, owner of Château Cos d'Estournelle, and with Paul Pontallier, manager of Château Margaux. These two harvests were the occasion for a trip around the world rich in adventures, encounters, and discoveries.
Cyril returned to the Costières de Nîmes at Mas des Bressades in 1996. Returning with a passion for wine and for the terroir of Costières de Nîmes, his goal is to preserve the terroir's qualitative potential as much as possible while respecting the vines and soils.
